The original version was recorded by Cannon's Jug Stompers on September 5, 1928 in Memphis, with Gus Cannon on banjo and jug, Elijah Avery on guitar and Noah Lewis on harmonica.
This song alternates between featuring the harmonica and the banjo, while the guitar and jug highlight the VI-II-V-I part of the ragtime chord progression.
On the original recording, Cannon only played jug when he was strumming his banjo, and paused the jug when picking his banjo leads. I followed the same arrangement here.
