Feed Your Friend With a Long Handled Spoon
The original version was recorded by the Memphis Jug Band on September 27, 1929 in Memphis, with Will Shade on vocal and lead guitar, Charlie Burse on rhythm guitar, Milton Roby on fiddle, Ben Ramey on kazoo and Jab Jones on jug.
Will Shade sings about mistrust, echoing lines he would use in "Kansas City Blues" and "Snitchin' Gambler Blues."
The guitar arrangement is typical of Shade and Burse, with Shade playing a lead part at a higher capo position, and Burse slipping some unique bass runs into his rhythm part.
This version is available for purchase on the Golden Harvest album.
